Young Nigerian Seeks Government Support On Drone Innovation

A young Nigerian local drone manufacturer, Ikechukwu Samuel Great has appealed to the Federal government to train him overseas to enable him realize the dreams of building drones.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos at the just concluded Drone technology conference organized by Mr. Fortune Idu, Great said training abroad will enable him build his skills and come back to the country to transfer the technology to the young ones.

In the alternative, he stated that government can finance him to build bigger locally made drone models.

“When they train me outside, I will develop my skills, come back and build the country together. They can also finance me to build bigger version of the Drone,” he said.

Great noted that the country was behind and cannot be hidden, adding that hard work was required with the endowment to develop the drones technology to counter any aggression at any time.

He remarked that the world was moving towards drone revolution which needed the improvement in technology to help in the medical, military, agriculture, among others.

On how he came about building the local drone, he said extensive research was carried out as he had the interest in aviation when he was a young boy.

Great, said his first flight was conducted in 2020 after his secondary education with so many crashes which led to improvement on his skills, adding that he has worked on router engines.
