Turkish Airlines Opens Narita Lounge

Turkish Airlines has opened its largest international lounge outside Istanbul at Narita International Airport, offering travellers a more comfortable experience while passing through Tokyo. This marks the airline’s seventh overseas lounge, further expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Founded in 1933 with a fleet of just five aircraft, Turkish Airlines has grown into a global carrier and a member of the Star Alliance network. Today, it operates a fleet of 477 passenger and cargo aircraft, flying to 352 destinations across 131 countries.

The new lounge is located in Terminal 1 South Wing, Satellite 4, Gate 47, and will cover approximately 1,500 m² when fully completed. In its first phase, it spans 800 m² and can accommodate up to 105 guests. Open daily from 7:30 AM to 9:45 PM, the lounge is accessible to Miles&Smiles Elite Plus and Elite cardholders, Miles&Smiles Elite Corporate cardholders, Star Alliance Gold members, and Business Class (First Class) passengers travelling with Star Alliance member airlines.

At the opening ceremony, Ümit Develi, Turkish Airlines Vice President of Sales for the Far East & Oceania, noted that the lounge reflects both Turkish and Japanese hospitality, enhancing the experience for travellers in the region. Akihiko Tamura, President & CEO of Narita International Airport Corporation, welcomed the addition, recognizing Turkish Airlines’ role in expanding Narita’s network.

The lounge offers a range of amenities, including a buffet with Turkish, Japanese, and Far Eastern cuisine. A standout feature is a Turkish pide oven, making it the only Turkish Airlines lounge outside Istanbul to serve freshly baked pide during lunch and dinner. Guests can also access relaxation areas, daybeds with apron views, a VIP room for privacy, shower facilities, accessible restrooms, and a baby care room. Complimentary Wi-Fi, flight information screens, and a dedicated workspace help passengers stay connected. The design incorporates traditional Turkish marbling art and a tribute to Japan’s Mount Fuji at the entrance.

Turkish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance, a global airline network established in 1997. Star Alliance includes major carriers such as Air Canada, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, and United, collectively offering 17,500 daily flights to over 1,150 airports in 189 countries.

With the opening of the Narita Lounge, Turkish Airlines now operates seven international lounges, including locations in Nairobi, Moscow, Miami, Washington, Bangkok, and New York.
