Rivers State Government Invests In Port-Harcourt Int’l Airport Infrastructure Upgrade

In a concerted effort to enhance the infrastructure of Port-Harcourt International Airport, The Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has launched a significant infrastructure upgrade (An Extensive Car Park Remodelling and Access Road expansion) at Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA) to enhance operational efficiency and passenger experience.
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says this ambitious project aims to modernize the airport facilities and improve safety standards. Key project Initiatives include expansion of the access road to the airport, rehabilitation of internal roads in front of the domestic terminal, currently in a deplorable condition to make the airport more accessible, thereby ensuring smoother traffic flow and safety of travelers; remodelling of the toll gate area as part of the airport access road expansion to enhance accessibility to the airport; construction of a Drop-Off Zone Construction at the Domestic Terminal Zone (DTZ), promising to streamline passenger drop-offs, enhance overall convenience, and provide a more comfortable and efficient experience for travelers; comprehensive road construction in front of the terminal building, which aims to create a welcoming and efficient environment for all-arriving and departing passengers.
Remodelling of the day and overnight car parks are also nearing completion.
Rivers State Government says the massive infrastructure upgrade at Port Harcourt International Airport signifies it’s commitment to enhancing the modernization of the airport facilities to meet international aviation standards in the South-South region. This initiative by the Rivers state governor, not only promises to elevate the airport’s status but also aims to contribute positively to the economic growth of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole, while promoting Port-Harcourt as a key travel hub in the south/South region.
