Nigeria’s Strong Economy, Population Good For Business, Says Kana

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Ibrahim Abubakar Kana mni, has stated that the Nigeria strong economy and her population are good for business ventures. Kana made this declaration while receiving the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of Chaina (COMAC), in his office on September 15, 2025.
Stating that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development’s visit to China has yielded fruit with the courtesy call by COMAC, Kana said the Minister would have loved to receive them himself but was unavoidably absent due to other commitments.
A statement signed by Head of Press & Public Affairs at the Federal Ministry of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Odutayo Oluseyi said Kana promised to enable the manufacturing company interface with Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), key agencies of the Ministry, and other stakeholders promising a more robust engagement when the company participates in the Nigeria Airshow slated for December, 2025 which they have indicated interest.
The Permanent Secretary further suggested that the Director General of Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Director General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and others based on their technical competence visit COMAC for possible technical approval for the use of the aircraft in Nigeria.
NSIB DG, Alex Badeh Jnr. said as a pilot, he had been following COMAC and is optimistic about COMAC and Nigeria relationship. He stated that Nigeria was underserved in terms of aircraft, while affirming that Nigeria is the best place for COMAC to come and invest.
The MD/CEO, Nigeria Airshow, Bria Williams stated that COMAC coming to invest in Nigeria was timely adding that Nigeria was the right country to invest in due to her centrality (Location) particularly in terms of investing in MRO facility of aircraft. She said the forthcoming Nigeria Airshow would avail COMAC the opportunity to showcase their product to the entire Aviation ecosystem.
Speaking earlier, Deputy General Manager, COMAC Marketing and Sales Centre, Yang Yang and leader of the Team expressed the willingness of COMAC to invest in Nigeria stating that Nigeria was strategically located.
He said COMAC is a Chinese state-owned aerospace manufacturer established on May 11, 2008 in Shanghai. He said the company had registered capital of RMB 19 billion and was established jointly by Aviation industry Corporation of China [AVIC], Aluminum Corporation of China, Baosteel Group Corporation, Sinochem Group, Shanghai Guosheng Corporation Limited, State-owned Assets supervision and Administration Commission.
He said COMAC had developed a C909 twin-engine, single aisle, short-rang and C919 twin-engine single aisle, short- medium rang among others.
