NATCA Elects Amos Edino As President
Mr. Amos Edino has been elected as the new President of the Nigerian Air Traffic Controllers’ Association (NATCA), defeating three other candidates to emerge the winner.
The election, which was conducted virtually, commenced at 12a.m yesterday morning and came to an end in the evening of the same day with a total number of 420 registered voters and 401 submitted ballots.
The election was conducted during the 53rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of NATCA in Kano State with the theme: ‘Sustainability of the Renewed Hope Agenda in Aviation: The imperative of Manpower Development and Efficient Air Navigation Services.’
Speaking to journalists immediately after his declaration, Edino promised to foster unity among Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs), aviation agencies and other stakeholders in the industry.
He assured that NATCA as a professional body would continue to entrench professionalism among its members without relegating their welfare. Edino also called on other contestants to bring their wealth of experience to the table by collaborating with the new executives to move the association forward.
He further lauded the immediate past executives led by Mr. Abayomi Agoro for steering the association on the right path in the past six years.
He said: “NATCA is there for professionalism and also the welfare of all controllers. My goal is to ensure the growth of the profession. God will give us the wisdom to see how we can take the profession to the next level.
“I intend to form collaboration and strategic alliance with all the organizations in the Nigerian aviation sector. We want to partner with them to ensure that we have that synergy to move the industry forward.
“The first thing I did was to embrace all other contestants and I told them that there is no victor, no vanquish. I want to appeal to them that whatever ideas they have, which can propel the association forward, they should bring it to the table so that we can work together as a family. I am coming to the table with the inclusiveness of everyone. Everybody would be carried along in moving the association forward.”
