FAAN RGM At Port-Harcourt Airport Meets Host Community Land Donors
The Regional General Manager, South-South, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), who is in charge of Port Harcourt International Airport (PHIA), Mrs. I. L. Ezike (IAP, FNIM) today hosted the Land Donors Association of the host communities of Ipo and Omagwa at a formal engagement held to introduce their newly elected executives and reaffirm stakeholder collaboration.
Addressing the gathering, Ezike appealed for continued cooperation and collaboration to achieve sustainable development of the airport.
She disclosed that FAAN, under the visionary and purposeful leadership of Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, had recorded a historic aviation milestone with the issuance of an Aerodrome Certificate to Port Harcourt International Airport by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on December 19, 2025.
She explained that the certification followed the formal approval of the Aerodrome Manual and confirms FAAN Management’s successful institutionalization of standardized operational processes, safety-critical systems, and procedures governing aircraft operations, airport infrastructure, and equipment. These measures are fully compliant with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) and are underpinned by the effective implementation of a robust Safety Management System (SMS).
Ezike emphasized that the certification represents a landmark achievement, as the airport over forty-six (46) years after its establishment, has now met the stringent regulatory requirements for aerodrome certification. This accomplishment reflects FAAN’s current strategic leadership disposition, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence, positioning PHIA among Nigeria’s certified aerodromes and delivering significant safety, operational, and economic benefits to the aviation sector and the nation at large.
