TAAG Transports The Largest Shipment In The Airline’s History
TAAG Linhas Aéreas de Angola says it has reached a historic milestone in the cargo sector on May 3, 2024 by transporting 96 tonnes of miscellaneous materials, the largest shipment since the company resumed operations, from the European Distribution Centre in Liege, Belgium to the new Doctor António Agostinho Neto Airport. The operation was carried out by Network Aviation Group’s Boeing 747-400F freighter.
Since March, more than 350,000kg of cargo has been transported on various routes, covering national, regional and international destinations.
“This represents another vital link from EU into Angola especially for the Oil & Gas industries but also for other companies that have outsized cargo, but cannot fly on our regular Passenger flights from Lisbon.
Since March we have moved over 350,000kgs on these flights. The flight on May 3rd carried our largest single load, since the resumption of this flight and gives us the confidence that Shippers are recognizing the value of this weekly flight into Luanda.’, commented David Ambridge, TAAG’s Director of Cargo and courier.
The Boeing 747-400F freighter has a capacity of up to 105 tonnes of outsized cargo, such as parts up to 20 meters long, which can be loaded quickly onto the aircraft.
This significant achievement reaffirms TAAG’s dedication to advancing the Luanda hub, facilitating international connections and import/export channels, and supporting the industry, both in Angola and across the region.
Additionally, TAAG is playing a pivotal role in streamlining their services and contributing to Angola’s development goals.
