TAAG Launches Dedicated Cargo Route To Lusaka, Strengthening Regional Logistics Corridor
TAAG’s Cargo Business Unit operated its inaugural cargo service to Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, on July 24, reinforcing the airline’s growth strategy and ambition to increase its market share in Africa’s air freight sector, while further strengthening the company’s position as a facilitator of international trade. Operated by a Boeing 737-800 Freighter under flight DT7587, the inaugural service transported 12.8 tonnes of cargo from Amsterdam (AMS), including machine parts, IT equipment, personal effects and other high-value goods. Initial demand confirms the strong potential of the new route, with cargo loads of 14 and 16 tonnes already scheduled for the following operations.
Initially, the Lusaka cargo route will operate on a weekly basis. The operation is supported by a strategic partnership with NAC2000, appointed as TAAG’s Ramp & Cargo Handling Service Provider and General Sales and Services Agent (GSSA) in Zambia.
With this new connection, TAAG Cargo now offers dedicated freight services to Lagos, Brazzaville, Abidjan, Accra, Kinshasa, Nairobi, Johannesburg and Lusaka, further strengthening logistics connectivity across key African markets.
The launch of the Lusaka route forms part of the Company’s North–South logistics corridor, creating a new gateway for cargo originating from several European countries, China and Brazil, while expanding distribution opportunities across the African continent. The new operation also supports the objectives of the Airlift Zambia initiative by creating improved conditions for the export of products such as beef, poultry, horticultural products and other goods. It facilitates access to the Angolan market and TAAG’s wider international network, while broadly fostering new trade opportunities and economic growth between Angola and Zambia.
During the fourth quarter of 2026, TAAG Cargo plans to further expand its network with the launch of a new route to Libreville, Gabon. The continued expansion of TAAG’s cargo network reaffirms the Company’s commitment to developing competitive logistics solutions, promoting regional economic integration, and strengthening the supply chains that connect Angola with key African and international markets.
