TAAG Opens Sales For Luanda–Praia Route As Flights Begin December 12
TAAG Angola Airlines has officially opened bookings for its new route between Luanda and Praia, Cape Verde, with commercial operations scheduled to commence on December 12, 2026, offering two weekly frequencies.
The launch of ticket sales marks a new milestone in the airline’s international network expansion strategy, enhancing mobility between the two countries and further strengthening air connectivity across Africa.
The new service will operate from Luanda on Monday and Saturday, with return flights from Praia on Tuesday and Sunday. The journey will have an approximate flight time of four hours each way, providing passengers with greater travel flexibility, particularly during the festive season and the beginning of 2027.
The route will primarily be served by the Airbus A220-300, offering a total capacity of 137 passengers, including 12 Premium Class seats and 125 Economy Class seats. The launch of the Praia route forms part of TAAG’s strategy to position Luanda as a leading aviation hub in Africa, facilitating passenger flows between regional markets and intercontinental destinations.
Through the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, travellers from Cape Verde will gain convenient access to TAAG’s domestic network, as well as a range of African and international destinations, benefiting from the connectivity opportunities available through Angola’s capital city. The Luanda–Praia service also represents the first phase of a broader regional development project that envisages the extension of the route to Dakar, Senegal, in 2027.
Sales for this additional segment will commence following the necessary approvals from the Senegalese civil aviation authorities and the completion of all applicable operational procedures. Beyond its commercial significance, the new route is expected to support stronger economic and business ties, stimulate tourism flows, and facilitate travel between Angola and Cape Verde. The connection is particularly relevant for the communities of both countries and will contribute to closer engagement among Portuguese-speaking African markets.
With the addition of Praia to its destination network, TAAG further reinforces its footprint within the Community of Portuguese Language Countries, complementing its existing operations to Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, and São Tomé and Príncipe.
