NAMA DATS Lifts First MD’s Unity Cup After Penalty Shootout

History was made as the Directorate of Air Traffic Services (DATS) of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) emerged champions of the first-ever MD’s Inter-Directorate Unity Cup, defeating the Directorate of Human Resources and Administration (DHR/A) in a nerve-racking penalty shootout at the grand finale.

The first tournament, introduced by the Managing Director of NAMA, Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, was designed to foster unity, camaraderie, and healthy competition among staff across directorates. True to its purpose, the competition brought together talent, passion, and teamwork in an atmosphere of excitement and mutual bonding.

The final clash kept spectators on the edge of their seats, as both teams displayed resilience and skill before the match was decided through penalties, sealing DATS as the historic first champions of the MD’s Cup.

The spotlight also shone on Hamza, who stole the show by winning both the Highest Goal Scorer and Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards. Other exceptional players and teams were equally recognized, with awards and generous cash prizes presented to celebrate their efforts.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Safety Electronics and Engineering Services (DSEES) claimed third place after a spirited performance, further highlighting the high level of competition across the directorates.

The tournament ended on a joyous note, with staff applauding the success of the competition and expressing gratitude to the Managing Director, Engr. Ahmed Umar Farouk, and the Director of Public Affairs (DPA) for their vision, support, and dedication in making the first edition a remarkable success.

With this historic beginning, the MD’s Unity Cup has set a new tradition of bonding through sports, and anticipation is already building for an even bigger and more colorful second edition.
