IAC, Ilorin Graduates 10 Pilot Students

The International Aviation College, Ilorin graduated 9 Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) Students and 1 Private Pilot License (PPL) Student on Tuesday, October, 1st 2024 in the College premises along Airport Road, Ilorin. The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. (Mrs) Mary Olufunke Arinde on behalf of Kwara State Government decorated the Graduands in line with aviation standards.

In her remarks after the decoration, Arinde thanked His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, the Executive Governor of Kwara State who doubles as the Visitor to the College for his support and assistance to the Aviation College. The Commissioner commended Chairman, Governing Council and Management of the College for doing their best possible with a view to moving the College to the next level. She advised the College Authorities to sustain the tempo in the best interest of the State. Dr. Arinde equally charged the new Pilots to be good ambassadors of the College.

In his brief submissions, the Registrar of the College, Mr. Mohammed Jimada Jibril on behalf of the Chairman, Governing Council of the College, Alh. Ahmed Mohammed Yusuf Gobir (Sariki Gobir of Ilorin) and Rector, Captain Yakubu Okatahi expressed the College’s profound gratitude and appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State and the Commissioner for Tertiary Education for their support and assistance to the College.

The Registrar expressed optimism that the College will continue to enjoy the State Government intervention in her critical areas of needs while noting approvals graciously given by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq such as Procurement of a fairly used Simulator and rehabilitation of the existing one, procurement of a brand new Transformer to replace damaged ones, release of funds for foreign training of two Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and a Flight Instructor among others.

Mr. Jibril assured that the College Management will continue to justify the confidence and trust the State Government reposed in them. The Registrar used the opportunity to thank the Staff and Students of the College for their support and cooperation, urging the new Pilots to be professional in the discharge of their duties and uphold ethics of their profession. He wished them good luck in their future endeavors.

The Bursar of the College, Mr. Sanni Shamsudeen equally thanked the Governor and  Commissioner for their active support in the College at all times, “The College is poised to continue to be centre of excellence in Aviation training”.

Captain Barau Mohammed, a Chief Flying Instructor from Nigerian Aviation College, Zaria who is Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority Examiner that conducted final appraisal for the students, said, “the quality of the students that did the check ride ceremony are of international standards and that they can compete favorably with their counterparts anywhere in the world.”

The nine Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) Students are: Abdullahi Amir, Kuteyi Olakanmi, Mogaji Biliaminu and Jubril Sani Mohammed, while others are Okuji Ogeri Niyan, Azodo Ikenna, Igwilo Michelle and Ezema Chidera. Abbass Lamido is a Private Pilot License Student category.
