FAAN Develops New SLAs Benchmarked Against Oliver Tambo Airport, Others, Scores 96.2%
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has developed new Service Legal Agreements (SLAs) benchmarked against Oliver Tambo Airport, CPH Airport Demark and the Airport Authority of India as part of preparations for the next phase of 120-Day Regulatory Reform Accelerator (RRA), a rating exercise by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
FAAN’s Director of Special Duties, Mr. Henry Agbebire, who oversees PEBEC for the Authority, disclosed this while commenting on the agency’s recent emergence as one of the top agencies in Nigeria with exemplary performance in the just concluded 120-Day RRA by the PEBEC.
FAAN’s performance was announced at an occasion held on Friday, June 28th, at the Old Banquet Hall at the State House, Abuja, organized by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima (GCON), to assess MDAs’ performance in the Regulatory Reform Accelerator to implement tangible reforms that will enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
With an impressive score of 96.2%, FAAN was among the agencies tagged “Successful” which is the apex of the rating categories in the Ease of Doing Business scorecard by the Federal Government.
In the past, FAAN scored third from bottom in the Ease of Doing Business ratings. However, with the sheer determination of the current FAAN Management, led by the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, the Authority moved from a performance of zero score to an exciting score of 96.2%, becoming one of the agencies that came top.
“We took onboard all the significant reform initiatives of PEBEC, and in alignment with our strategic goals, we will continue to build on improving the quality of our airport infrastructure and passengers’ experience,” said Agbebire.
“FAAN is not only committed to sustaining the reforms implemented but also to meeting up the outstanding 3.8% to make it 100% as PEBEC is set for the next phase of the 120-Day RRA, which would be predominantly based on Third Party Validation,” he added.
Apart from development of new SLAs, he said FAAN has taken the steps of provision of high-speed Internet at airports; CCTV deployment and maintenance and provision of QR Codes for passengers.
Since her appointment, Mrs Kuku has always maintained that FAAN would prioritize passenger facilitation and comfort as well as the needs of the airports.
