Empowerment Outreach: JEDLOF Offsets 20 Students’ NECO Fees

The Jedidiah Divine Home Of Love (JEDLOF), a Non Governmental Organization has put smiles on the faces of 20 final year secondary students by paying over N7000, 000 for their National Examinations Council (NECO) fees for 2025 enrollment.

The first set of 10 students were drawn from Ikeja High School while the other 10 students were from various schools.

Speaking on what informed the free NECO registration for the students, the founder of JEDLOF Dr. (Mrs) Ebele Okoye said it was commission she got from God when setting up the NGO, adding that those in need should be taken care of by lifting them.

Dr. Okoye said it was part of the organization’s outreach empowerment to help in reducing the burden of the economic hardship faced in the country. She disclosed that it was part of giving back to the society saying that at the inception of the foundation, she vowed to help widows and less privileged ones.

According to Dr. Okoye, she learnt from her father far back as a kid when he paid school fees for those who could not afford it and were sent back home.

She explained that the foundation was to register for JAMB and WAEC for the students but discovered it was late hence she took up NECO. She admonished the students to study hard and be better students tomorrow in order to encourage the foundation to do more.

One of the coordinators at the ceremony, Mrs. Peace Okoye said the gesture was one of four things expected to be carried out this year as part of JEDLOF outreach programmes, highlighting the importance of education in life hence they identified with the students.

Okoye who expressed joy, urged the beneficiaries to take their study seriously as the foundation would be back to evaluate their performance in the exam. Some of the parents of the beneficiaries, thanked Dr. Okoye for the gesture and prayed that she will succeed in all endeavours.

One of the senior teachers in SS3, Mr. Adegene said it would help the students realize their educational pursuit and commended JEDLOF for coming to the aid of the students.

He said JEDLOF had given them hope, succor and confidence stressing that it came as a surprise to him when he heard about the visit to the school.

He said JEDLOF, with the gesture had given education a boost adding the parents of the lucky students were surprised when they were invited to the school for presentation.

The parents of the students expressed joy and prayed for Dr. Okoye, promising to ensure that the students excelled in their education.

The ceremony was witnessed by principal, staff and all the students of Ikeja Senior High School.
