Delta Air Lines is making travel between Nigeria and the United States even smoother with the rollout of innovative technologies and industry-first government partnerships designed to save customers time and stress throughout their journey.

From Delta’s daily nonstop Lagos–Atlanta flight, Nigerian customers can now benefit from faster connections across the United States and beyond through Atlanta, Delta’s largest international hub.

“No one better connects the world than Delta, and we want to make your connections – and travel experience as a whole – smoother, smarter and more efficient at every step of the journey,” said Greg Forbes, Managing Director – Airport Experience. “These initiatives rolling out and expanding this summer are big steps toward delivering on that promise.”

For seamless international connections via Atlanta, travelers arriving in Atlanta from Seoul-Incheon (ICN) or London-Heathrow (LHR) can now head directly to their connecting flights without reclaiming or rechecking their bags at U.S. Customs. This innovation—achieved through collaboration with U.S., U.K. and Korean authorities—saves up to 25 minutes for customers and makes onward travel across the U.S. more convenient.

In addition, select LHR–ATL flights allow eligible Delta customers to bypass redundant TSA screenings, cutting connection times by up to 45 minutes. This service, which will expand to all LHR–ATL flights soon, complements the already simplified connections eastbound through London since February. Delta plans to expand these benefits to more global routes in the future, making travel even more efficient for Nigerian customers flying through Atlanta.

For Nigerian travellers connecting through Delta hubs in the U.S., a new App Bag Drop feature is available at Atlanta, Boston, Detroit and Seattle. Customers who check in on the Fly Delta app can quickly print bag tags and drop their luggage, avoiding long lines and gaining more time before departure. This benefit will be extended to all Delta hubs by year-end.

Delta’s TSA Pre-Check Touchless ID technology, using secure facial matching to speed up bag drop and security continues to roll out across the U.S. For eligible SkyMiles Members enrolled in TSA Pre-Check, Touchless ID reduces bag drop to as little as 30 seconds and shortens security checks by up to 60%. Currently available at major U.S. airports including Atlanta, New York-JFK, Los Angeles and Detroit, the technology will reach all Delta hubs by the end of 2025.
