Cape Town Convention Practice Directions: AON Reassures Keyamo On Compliance

Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has reassured the Minister of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) that the current breed of airline operators would comply with the agreements signed with lessors, unlike what happened in the past.

Speaking for AON at the on-going conference on “Convention Of International Interests In Mobile Equipment And The Protocol On Matters Specific To Aircraft Equipment”, currently underway at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo told the Minister that the Minister does “not need to worry about what the current breed of operators will do with Nigeria’s image.”

He noted that rather, Nigerian airlines have been victims to lessors, adding that a lessor recently duped Air Peace of over $2million.

Okonkwo commended the Minister’s efforts to encourage local airlines and improve the sector. The conference is organized by the Federal Ministry of Aviation & Aerospace Development in collaboration with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
