BASL Addresses Temporary Water Leakage Challenge Around MMA2 Ticketing Hall

Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2, MMA2, operated by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited says a comprehensive facility assessment is already underway to prevent recurrence of incident of temporary water leakage that occurred today due to an unusual rainfall.

Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, Head of Corporate Communications, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited says the incident “occurred when heavy rainfall combined with abnormal wind patterns directed water toward previously unaffected structural elements of the building.

This created pressure conditions that forced rainwater through weatherproofing systems that have performed adequately in all previous weather events.

The terminal maintenance department responded immediately, and water removal operations have since been completed. The terminal remains open and operational, with the affected area fully restored. A comprehensive facility assessment is already underway to prevent similar incidents during future extreme weather events.”
