Aviatrix Hub Takes Proactive Step On Emerging Higher Training Costs
In a proactive move to provide support funds for training of flight dispatchers, cabin crew and other aviation professionals, cost of which is likely to go higher in the future, Aviatrix Training Hub has introduced a scholarship scheme to assist young people who aspire to undergo aviation training.
The Aviatrix Youths Empowerment Programme (AYEP) was launched yesterday at the Conference Centre of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
In her opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Aviatrix Hub, Mrs. Victoria Adegbe noted that by 2025, the cost of training aviation personnel would have increased rapidly and so, Aviatrix had decided to partner with other organizations such as 7-Star Hangar, Leadstream Aviation, SAHCO Plc and other organizations as sponsors to AYEP so that young people aspiring to pursue careers in Aviation can take advantage of the scheme.
She said to benefit from the scholarship scheme which intends to train manpower for airlines, there would be entry exams conducted in partnership with Teacherhaulics.
Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Adekunle Raphael Monehin said his passion and concern about taking youths off the streets is his motivation for buying into the initiative, adding that sponsoring training of at least, one youth per quarter and three per year, would be impactful.
The Chief Executive Officer of Teacherhaulics which provides training services for international exams, Mr. Adeyemi Oluwaseun said his organization intends to not only train, but create awareness about opportunities in the aviation industry so that young people can have access to the opportunities.
In his remarks, Engr. M. Ahmed, an Aviation Safety Inspector in charge of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers’ Licensing in Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) commended the initiative, pointing out that with NCAA’s involvement, the regulator and the regulated would work together to achieve objectives of the scheme.
The Managing Director of MamaJ Aviation, Mrs. Joy Ogbebor in her remarks, highlighted her experience as a cabin attendant and how training has helped her over the years, even after her retirement.
The President of Flight Dispatchers Association of Nigeria (FLIDAN), Mr. Daniel Ayuba called on every airline operator to support the initiative because “there is a shortage of flight dispatchers and overtime, we might not have replacements.”
