Our Responsibility As FAAN Board, By Ganduje
The Chairman of the Board of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Senator Abdullahi Umar Ganduje says the responsibility of his board “is to guide FAAN towards becoming a modern, efficient, innovative, and financially sustainable institution.”
Delivering his welcome speech today at the opening ceremony of the four-day Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Governing Board Retreat 2025, themed “Future-Proofing FAAN: Leadership, Modernization & Strategic Renewal,” Ganduje said the areas of this task for discussion at the retreat include strengthening of leadership culture at all levels, “ensuring that integrity, accountability, and excellence guide every decision,” “accelerating modernization by upgrading infrastructure, enhancing security systems, and adopting digital solutions that align our airports with global best practices, investing in staff welfare and capacity development, recognizing that our people are the true engine of organizational progress, improving operational efficiency and expanding revenue generation pathways to ensure long-term sustainability, deepening collaboration with regulators, security agencies, airlines, development partners and private investors to unlock new opportunities and enhance service delivery” and “advancing discussions around key issues such as operational excellence, passenger experience, inter-agency coordination, and adopting a unified security architecture that enhances safety across airport operations.”
“The task before us is significant, but it is also achievable. Together, we can build a FAAN that honours the progress already made while confidently embracing the next phase of growth; a FAAN that is resilient, future-ready, and globally competitive,” he said.
