Importance Of Aviation Agency Boards, By ASRTI President
Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI) has highlighted the importance of constituting governing boards for Nigeria’s aviation agencies.
Presenting his welcome address at the Quarter1 ART Business Breakfast Meeting held on May 2, 2024 at Golfview Hotel, Lagos under the theme, “Manpower Strategy Training, Succession And Human Capital Development In The Nigerian Aviation Sector,” ASRTI President, Air Commodore Demola Onitiju (Rtd) said: “We have advocated times without number, the importance of constituting governing boards for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other aviation agencies in the Nigerian aviation sector. These Boards will not only assist the DGCA and other CEOs in formulating enduring policies for the agencies but will also serve as the barometer for ensuring the good corporate governance practice of transparency, accountability and responsibility which will cascade down to all segments in the sector.
Corruptive tendencies often associated with political interference will be appropriately checkmated and curbed by a focused and knowledgeable board. We urge the Minister of Aviation to do the needful.”
The event was attended by stakeholders across the aviation industry, featured paper presentations, a panel session and an investiture ceremony of ASRTI’s Patron and Grand Patrons.
