Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), managers of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2, is proud to participate in World Cleanup Day. As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, the company will join communities worldwide in the collective effort to clean up litter and promote a cleaner, healthier planet.
This year’s World Cleanup Day took place on Friday September 20. The aim is to activate 5% of the world’s population to catalyze lasting societal behavior change around mismanaged waste.
BASL’s Head of Safety, Nafisat Adeniran, said, “In our own little way of joining the activated 5% of the world’s population, MMA2 organized awareness events to engage all MMA2 drivers. This is to educate them on how to manage waste within and outside the terminal. We also educated them on how to dispose of it correctly and to ensure that all their vehicles are equipped with baskets so that waste is properly collected and disposed of. We did rally up drivers and MMA2 top management to take part in this event by cleaning up the driver’s park as evidence of top leadership commitment. We would continually reiterate our eco-friendly programme – The recycle waste.
“MMA2 is committed to environmental sustainability through its different initiatives from the management of the specialized FOD waste on the apron (Airside) to recycling of general waste on the landside and taking part in the World Cleanup Day to sensitize people and to join the millions of volunteers around the globe to tackle the global mismanaged waste crisis and to help create a new, more sustainable and waste-free world to keep for this and future generations.”
Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited organized a cleanup event at the terminal. Volunteers from the company participated to collect waste and restore the area to its natural beauty. To mark the day, the senior management team of BASL went out to the driver’s park and cleaned it up, trashing waste appropriately.
By participating in World Cleanup Day, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited aims to raise awareness about the environmental challenges facing our planet and encourage others to act. The company believes that collective efforts can make a significant impact on preserving our natural resources and creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
