Why ASKY Progresses Amidst Operating Costs Challenge In Africa, By CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of ASKY, Mr. Esayas Woldemariam Hailu has explained the discipline behind the consistency in the airline’s impressive performance in a continent where carriers face high operating costs challenge.

Speaking in an interview with African Skies Magazine, Hailu said “for an airline, corporate governance and cost discipline is very important and ASKY is following that. So, we try to have a very good network architecture. That’s number one.

Number two, cost discipline and corporate governance in terms of procurement and other things. Number three, Africa-Africa cooperation, strategic cooperation with Ethiopian Airlines because it has a big network.

So, when we are procuring materials together with Ethiopian Airlines, we have volume discount and also we have very good traffic feed, which is also one of the key success factors for our success.”

In summary, “number one is cost discipline. Number two is corporate governance. Number three is cooperation within Africa with other airlines. This is a success factor that ASKY has been exhibiting.”

He said he looks to see an ASKY that by 2036, has “a sustainable connectivity of the continent of Africa, linking Africa to the rest of the world in a very sustainable manner, connecting, integrating the continent, connecting people and goods, and also serving the community with the vision of a dependable network connectivity. This is how I would like ASKY to be remembered.”
