We Deserve The Best Since We Control The African Market, Says Keyamo
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) says his ministry under his leadership “would continue to ensure that Nigeria’s airlines break new grounds to make air travels safe and convenient for our citizens. We control the market in Africa and we are the most travelled in the African continent. Therefore, we deserve the best.”
The Minister stated this in his keynote address at the Global Transport Policy Annual Round Table and Bilingual Magazine Public Launch held today at Marriot Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
Keyamo, who was represented at the event by Mr. Henry Agbebire, Director of Special Duties at Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) said “my ministry has taken steps to review all the subsisting Bilateral Air Service Agreements (BASAs) that Nigeria has entered into with other countries of the world with the aim of ensuring that the country benefits from the principle of reciprocity, which is the hallmark of all BASAs,” adding that the outcome of this strategic move would not only improve connectivity, but also position Nigeria as a regional hub for air transportation.
Earlier in his Welcome Address, the Chairman of Global Transport Policy, Dr. Oluwasegun Musa said “beyond mere technological advancements, it is the development of policies that truly reinforces the success of intermodal transport in developed nations. Advanced governments recognize the imperative of fostering an enabling environment, conducive to intermodal integration.”
Minister Keyamo was also honoured with an award by the organization. Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI) was represented at the programme by General Secretary, Mr. Olu Ohunayo and Mr. Albinus Chiedu. Other dignitaries represented at the event include Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Chief of Naval Staff.
The Inspector General of Police was represented by Lagos State Commissioner of Police while the Managing Director of Kaduna Line, Enuwa Ibrahim and Rector of Yaba College of Science and Technology were physically present.
