The Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection at Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mr. Michael Achimugu says nine additional aircraft acquired on dry-lease are expected in Nigeria by February 2026.

Speaking in an Arise Television news programme, Achimugu said some of the flight delays and cancellations experienced of recent were due to inadequate capacity in terms of aircraft but assured that this temporary challenge would soon give way when the domestic airlines receive more aircraft. He added that airlines were not responsible for some of the flight delays experienced, implying that factors behind the issues are multifaceted.

He said the NCAA was doing everything to ensure that all players in the sector live up to their responsibilities.

He also noted that the NCAA achieved the highest volume of refunds and compensations from airlines to disappointed passengers in 2025 and that players are sanctioned when they violate rules.
