Nigeria-Ghana Route Serves Over 240,000 Passengers Annually, Says United Nigeria Airlines

As part of preparations for the commencement of its Abuja to Accra and Lagos to Accra flights from November 10, 2025, United Nigeria Airlines has hosted its first Strategic Agency Forum to strengthen collaboration with key travel partners and ticketing agents, with its Head of Business Development and Strategy, Mrs. Ifeoma Ekwerike noting that the Nigeria to Ghana route serves over 240,000 passengers annually, making it one of West Africa’s most active air corridors.

The event, held on Tuesday at Protea Hotel, Lagos, brought together leading travel agents from across Nigeria, including members of NANTA, as well as representatives from Sabre, Wakanow, American Express Travels, Orih Travels, and other major industry players. The forum comes as United Nigeria Airlines expands its operations, having recently welcomed more aircraft, two Airbus A320-200 and a CRJ-900, to its growing fleet serving 14 destinations nationwide with Accra set to launch on November 10.

In her presentation,  Ekwerike emphasized the strategic importance of Accra in United Nigeria Airlines expansion plan, stating that “United Nigeria Airlines is entering the Accra market with reliable schedules, on-time flights, competitive fares, modern aircraft, and attractive incentives for our agents.”

Ekwerike stated. “From November 10, we will operate daily direct non-stop flights from Abuja to Accra and four weekly flights from Lagos to Accra.”

Speaking at the event, Chief Operating Officer, Mazi Osita Okonkwo, appreciated the agents for their continued partnership and reaffirmed the airline’s commitment to shared growth. He announced the ongoing acquisition of six Boeing 737-800 aircraft, part of the airline’s expansion plan to enhance capacity and service quality.

“Our agents are our representatives before the passengers and vital partners in our growth story,” Okonkwo said. “The future is bright for United Nigeria Airlines.” He also encouraged agents to tap into the vast opportunities within Nigeria’s tourism and travel sector.

The Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Raphael Uchegbu, concluded the event with a lucky dip draw, where several agents won return tickets to Accra on the airline’s inaugural flight.

United Nigeria Airlines continues to reaffirm its mission, “Flying to Unite,” as it expands its regional footprint and strengthens relationships with its valued partners.
