NAMA Commences ANSP Certification Training Facilitated By BAGASOO

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has commenced a week-long Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) Certification Training for members of its Certification Committee. The programme, which runs from October 27 to 31, 2025 at BluCabana Restaurant and Café, Abuja, is being facilitated by the Banjul Accord Group Aviation Safety Oversight Organization (BAGASOO).
The training was formally declared open by the Managing Director/Chief Executive of NAMA, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar, who was ably represented by Mr. John Tayo, Director of Air Traffic Services. In his opening remarks, the MD/CE underscored the significance of the certification exercise as a strategic milestone in NAMA’s journey toward achieving full compliance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig.CARs) and ICAO Annex 19 provisions on State Safety Oversight.
He expressed appreciation to BAGASOO for its continued partnership and technical support, describing the training as a vital step toward strengthening institutional capacity, standardizing safety management systems, and ensuring that NAMA attains ANSP certification status in line with international best practices.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of BAGASOO, Jailza Soraya Rodrigues Silva reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting NAMA and other member states in enhancing safety oversight and operational excellence across the sub-region. He commended NAMA’s leadership for its proactive approach and strategic vision in pursuing certification as a means to guarantee sustainable safety performance and service quality.
The Director of Special Duties, NAMA, Mr. Ahmad Abba, mni, who serves as the Chairman of the ANSP Certification Committee, welcomed participants and expressed confidence that the training would further equip members with the requisite knowledge and tools to successfully drive the certification process. He noted that the exercise reflects NAMA’s unwavering dedication to continuous improvement, transparency, and global alignment.
The five-day training will cover critical modules on regulatory frameworks, documentation, safety oversight mechanisms, certification processes, and internal audit procedures, culminating in a roadmap towards the agency’s full certification by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
The opening ceremony marked yet another demonstration of NAMA’s commitment to safety excellence, professionalism, and adherence to the highest international aviation standards.
