MMIA: Keyamo Updates NSA On Security Agencies’ Collaboration, Commissions Remodelled Wing-E
The Minister of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) says he is working in conjunction with the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku and has engaged the National Security Adviser on the various activities at the airports and efforts towards collaboration of security agencies operating at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA).
Speaking over the weekend on the sidelines of the commissioning of a newly remodeled Wing-E departure hall of the airport, Keyamo commended the various agencies for the observed improvements regarding harassment of airport users and professional approach to carrying out their duties. He appealed to them to maintain the level of improvement.
“We have updated the NSA about the steps we are taking. Those steps were not taken outside his endorsements,” he said, adding that the NSA had been written requesting that he informs the various agencies to cooperate with aviation ministry and agencies so as to enable working together in the interest of the nation.
He applauded the concessionaires who worked in partnership with UBA to remodel the wing of the airports.
“We will continue to remodel our airports in partnership with private entities within our limited resources to make them more user friendly,” he said.
Mrs. Kuku said upgrades and remodernization of the airport facilities would continue, adding that there were ongoing activities aimed at improving the facilities at the airport to cater for various categories of passengers, including those with disabilities, who use the terminal.
The Group Managing Director of UBA, Mr. Oliver Alawuba said having been in partnership with FAAN for 22 years to improve infrastructure, UBA had been providing the needed support since government cannot do it alone.
Some CNG buses were also unveiled by the Minister. The commissioning of Wing-E of the terminal is the first phase of the project. Wing D is the next phase.
