ICRC Wants Aviation Sector Built On Performance Rather Than Potentials
The Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession & Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Dr Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh says the commission is committed to removing barriers to business partnership in Nigeria’s aviation sector so that the existing success potentials will translate to actual performance.
Speaking at the Nigerian Aircraft Acquisition and Investment Summit (NAAIS) held in Lagos, Ewalefoh said since aviation Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) by nature are long term investments spanning 20 to 30 years, “Nigeria must therefore, commit to a long term aviation strategy that aligns with national economic goals.”
According to him, regulation should not be seen as a barrier in business and the future of Nigeria’s aviation sector lies in partnerships, not control. He said that for PPPs to succeed, risks must be allotted to parties best to manage them and for the future of Nigeria’s aviation sector, “the private sector must bring in innovation and efficiency.”
“Nigeria stands at a crucial point. The opportunity before us is immense but not automatic.”
“Let us commit to building a sector not just by potential but on performance,” he said.
