FLIDAN Reaffirms Commitment To Highest Professionalism Standards
The President of Flight Dispatchers Association of Nigeria (FLIDAN), Mr. Daniel Ayuba says “FLIDAN remains committed to promoting the highest standards of professionalism among Flight Dispatchers. We will continue to advocate for improved training, stronger Operational Control Centres, competency-based development, the implementation of ICAO standards, and greater recognition of the critical role Flight Dispatchers play in the aviation ecosystem.”
Delivering his welcome address at the 2026 FLIDAN Annual Conference held at NCAA Annex, Lagos, Ayuba said: “Our profession carries tremendous responsibility. Every operational decision we make has the potential to protect lives, improve efficiency, and strengthen public confidence in air transportation. That responsibility must continue to inspire excellence in everything we do.”
He said the conference theme, “Safety and Efficiency: The Flight Dispatcher’s Role” defines our profession and that “there could hardly be a more appropriate theme for our industry at this critical period in aviation. Around the world, flight operations are evolving rapidly. Technological advancement, increasing regulatory requirements, operational complexity, environmental concerns, and rising passenger expectations all demand that flight dispatchers continue to improve their knowledge, competence, and professionalism.
Today, the role of the Flight Dispatcher is no longer viewed merely as a supporting function. We are strategic partners in operational control. Every safe departure, every efficient flight plan, every informed operational decision, and every successful arrival is influenced by the professionalism and expertise of the Flight Dispatcher.
Safety remains the foundation of aviation, and efficiency is the discipline that ensures resources are utilized wisely without compromising safety. These two principles must always work together.
As professionals, we recognize that achieving operational excellence requires continuous learning, strict adherence to regulations, effective communication, and a commitment to global best practices.
This conference therefore serves as more than an annual gathering. It is a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, innovation, and professional development. It provides us with the opportunity to examine emerging challenges, exchange ideas, and develop practical solutions that will strengthen flight operations across Nigeria.”
“The recommendations discussed during this conference should not remain within these conference halls. They must translate into meaningful action within our airlines, Operations Control Centres, regulatory institutions, and training organizations.
Together, we must continue to advocate for the implementation of ICAO Document 10106, strengthen Safety Management Systems, embrace modern operational technologies, improve competency-based training, and support initiatives that enhance both safety and operational efficiency throughout the Nigerian aviation industry,” stated Ayuba.
