Aviation Ministry States Efforts To Enhance Projects Bankability

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Nigeria, Mr. Mahmud Adam Kambari says “the Ministry is prioritizing key reforms and near-term actions aimed at enhancing the bankability of aviation projects.”

Speaking at the Nigerian Aircraft Acquisition and Investment Summit (NAAIS) held in Lagos, Kambari, who was represented by Mr. Mohammed Tijani said: “First, we are advancing policies that support improved access to long-term financing, including engagement with development finance institutions and export credit agencies to de-risk aircraft acquisition and leasing arrangements.

Second, efforts are ongoing to streamline regulatory processes, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and improve ease of doing business across the sector.

Third, we are strengthening institutional collaboration, including the ongoing partnership between the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to develop an online, real-time aviation insurance verification platform. This initiative is designed to enhance transparency, ensure regulatory compliance, and boost investor confidence in the integrity of aviation insurance frameworks in Nigeria.

Fourth, we are advancing the modernization of our air navigation systems through advanced CNS/ATM technology as to enhance safety, improve efficiency, reduce delays and align with global standards.

Fifth, we are deepening public-private partnerships as a strategic tool for infrastructure development and service delivery, ensuring that projects are structured to meet global investment standards.

Additionally, we remain committed to the resolution of legacy challenges affecting the sector, including contractual and financial obligations, in a manner that reinforces.”

He further said “in the near term, the Ministry will continue to provide policy direction and institutional support to facilitate investment flows, while ensuring that Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem remains competitive, resilient, and aligned with global best practices.”

Kambari said “driving a robust pipeline of investment opportunities. These include fleet modernization and expansion initiatives for domestic carriers; the development and concessioning of airport infrastructure; enhancement of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO).”
