Nigeria’s 1st Female Regional Airport Manager Retires From FAAN
The Regional Manager, South West Airports and Manager of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Mrs. Victoria Bamidele Shin-Aba has retired from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) after 35 years of meritorious service.
Speaking at a Retirement Party organized in her honour today at Welcome Centre, Lagos, FAAN’s Managing Director, Capt. Hamisu Yadudu described Mrs. Shin-Aba as a very good professional. He stated that if every staff of FAAN were as professional and good as she is, the organization would have been much better.
Yadudu said Mrs. Shin-Aba has a strong commitment to her family and commitment to God. “Just as we say a man is a Man of God, she is a Lady of God; a very good human being,” he said.
In his remarks, FAAN’s Director of Operations, Mr. Mukhtar Muye described her as “very professional, intelligent team worker and very proactive.”
Mrs. Shin-Aba, who had started her career in FAAN in 1987 as a House Assistant, played a key role the presiding officer at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, in the efforts and preparations for the international certification of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, which was eventually obtained.
The party featured the launch of a book titled MY RESILIENCE written by Mrs. Shin-Aba, which was reviewed by Mr. Chris Aligbe, Managing Director, Belujane Konzult Limited. The 12-chapter book chronicled the journey of this Ogbomosho girl that found her way to Lagos years ago, encountered life’s challenges, eventually acquired several academic and professional qualifications through her doggedness and focus. Her numerous local and international trainings in aviation saw her climb the ladder of her career to this exit point of Regional Manager, South West Airports.
The event was attended by so many stakeholders in Nigeria’s aviation industry including the Chairman of Air Peace, Mr. Allen Onyema, FAAN’s Director of Human Resources and Administration, Mr. Noris Anozie, Special Adviser to The President On Presidential Enabling Business Council, Dr. Mrs. Jumoke Oduwole, members of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and Country Managers of foreign airlines operating into Nigeria, Chief Executives of Ground Handling Companies in Nigeria, amongst other dignitaries.
