Delta Unveils Fly Delta App Version 7.0 To Enhance Travel Experience

There are just a few weeks left until summer and the busiest travel season of the year wouldn’t be complete without the award-winning Fly Delta app by your side. As your ultimate travel companion, Fly Delta helps you book, manage and stay in control of your journey every step of the way.

Available starting today and with new features coming throughout the summer, the latest app update, Fly Delta 7.0, includes a line-up of new features designed to simplify and empower your journey even further,  whether you’re shopping for flights, selecting your Choice Benefits, or staying informed during your travel day.

Key Features of Fly Delta App Version 7.0 are Real-Time Flight Updates with Live Activities under which iOS users running iOS 16 or later can now access real-time flight updates directly from their lock screen and dynamic island (iPhone 14 Pro+). This includes notifications for pre-boarding, boarding, gate closures, in-flight progress, and arrival times, starting three hours before departure. This feature is currently available only for iOS users and not for Android.

Another feature is Streamlined Choice Benefits Selection. Starting June 1, Diamond and Platinum Medallion Members can exclusively select and manage their Choice Benefits through the Fly Delta app, simplifying the process of unlocking loyalty rewards.

Upgrade Certificate Redemption is another feature. Platinum and Diamond Medallion Members can now view and redeem eligible Global and Regional Upgrade Certificates directly within the app during the booking process, mirroring the functionality available on Delta.com.

It also features Enhanced Earning Opportunities through Uber Partnership. Customers can link their SkyMiles accounts with Uber via the Fly Delta app to earn miles on rides to and from the airport, premium rides, Uber Reserve rides, and Uber Eats orders over $40. This feature is limited to U.S. rides and deliveries; terms apply.

There is Improved Customer Notifications. Recognizing the unpredictability of travel, Delta is enhancing customer notifications to provide more tailored and timely information during travel disruptions, ensuring passengers are well-informed and supported.

The International Travel Preparation is a feature. The app will soon assist customers in preparing for international trips by alerting them to any missing documentation or tasks required for their destination, promoting a smoother travel experience.

Under Self-Service Standby Rebooking, customers with the Fly Delta app can take control of their travel plans when the unexpected happens, starting this June. In the event of a travel disruption, Delta customers traveling on nonstop flights or on the last leg of their journeys will now be able to book themselves as standby passengers on an earlier flight departing within 24 hours before the originally confirmed flight (feature is limited to domestic travel only). This new feature puts customers in control during travel disruptions – with self-service tools, you can avoid calling agents or standing in lines, giving you greater flexibility and peace of mind.

“By knowing where our Members are headed, how they interact with us, and what they value most, we’re able to offer choices and experiences that truly matter to them,” said Eric Phillips, SVP and Chief Digital Officer – Delta Air Lines.

“We’re continuously improving the Fly Delta app to make it the ultimate travel companion, enhancing every step of the customer journey to ensure seamless and connected travel with Delta. As we announced at CES 2025, the next step in this journey will be leveraging Delta-centric AI – Delta Concierge—for an elevated human touch to supercharge the customer experience, beginning later this year.”

With over 97% of SkyMiles Medallion Members utilizing the Fly Delta app for managing their travel, and 85% of SkyMiles Members using it during their journeys, Delta continues to prioritize technological advancements that enhance the customer experience.
