Aviation Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Advocates AVSEC Pro-activeness

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana (mni) has called for more pro-activeness by Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel in Nigeria as part of measures towards achieving safe skies.
In his opening address as Guest of Honour at the Aviation Security Stakeholders’ Symposium held yesterday in Lagos under the theme, “The Fundamentality of Security In Achieving The Safe Skies Goal”, Kana emphasized the importance of proper profiling of airport users by aviation security personnel.
He equally stressed that there has to be synergy among the various security agencies functioning at the airports.
“The security ecosystem at the airport does not only belong to Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) but also to all the security agencies,” he stressed.
Kana further appealed to aviation unions to engage their management on welfare issues without necessarily challenging authority as unionism does not mean radicalism but peaceful engagement in the interest of workers’ welfare.
