NACAN To Examine The Effect Of AI On Speedy Communications
As professionals in the aviation sector continue to work towards the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), members of the National Air traffic Communicators Association of Nigeria (NACAN) are strategizing to build a smarter and more sustainable AFTN/AMHS through AI collaboration.
The President of NACAN, Alhaji Rabiu Mohammed Sani in a statement, said the Annual General Meeting scheduled to hold at the Abdurrahman Bello Dambazau Hall, correctional centre Headquarters, along Airport Road, Abuja will attract important dignitaries across the country.
According to Sani, the event which will hold December 4, 2024 with its theme ‘Building a Smarter, More Sustainable AFTN/AMHS through AI Collaboration’ will also feature Engr Ahmed Umar Farouk, Managing Director of the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency as chief host while all the captains of Aviation parastatals will be Special Guests.
Sani stated that a seasoned aviator, Mr. Tom Oteyo from Nairobi, Kenya will present a paper while discussants include, Engr. Osunwusi and an ICAO representative.
Other Special guests will be Akwa Ibom State Governor, Kano, Yobe and Rivers State Governors.
Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN) is a low speed network providing majority of ground – ground data communication within the ICAO realm as defined in Annex 10. Aeronautical Message Handling System (AMHS) is a standard for Air Traffic Services Message Handling System, which is based on ground – ground communications for the exchange of messages such as NOTAMs, Flight plans, meteorological data, among others.
