EgyptAir Holds Sensitization Workshop, Recognizes Top Travel Agents

EgyptAir has held a product sensitization, hospitality and destination marketing workshop for travel agents at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, attended by high profile guests, including Mr. Amr Basha, EgyptAir Country Manager; Mr. Mohamed Farahat, General Manager Investment, Master Group Egypt, the parent company of Elite Tours, EgyptAir’s GSA in Nigeria; Mr. Hisham Attia, Tour Manager, Master Travels; Mr. Muharram Abdel Rahman, General Manager, Elite Tours; and Mr. Yinka Olapade, Vice President, Lagos Zone, NANTA.

Welcoming participants to the occasion, Mr. Amr Basha said; “As a leading airline, our promise is to ensure that we offer world-class services to our esteemed customers offering the best of Egyptian hospitality by taking you safely to your destination while you sat back, relax and enjoy the sky. Today’s event is aimed at strengthening the relationship we have as an airline with you our stakeholders and partners in an effort to better understand the challenges you might have in order to find lasting solutions to them.

We are an airline that prides itself on hospitality, and we promise to continue to listen to you so that we can serve you better. We also call on you our travel agents to promote Egypt as a wonderful destination for many different types of customer needs like beaches and resorts, medical, history and art, and we are aiming to promote and encourage that through our partnership with our GSA parent company in Egypt who is offering different types of tour packages that suits different customer needs.”

Miss Faith Obazee, EgyptAir Sales Executive led the workshop with a detailed presentation on the brand value and services of the airline including an update on new routes, airline fleet, destinations and attractions within Egypt for tourists to visit and around the world with seamless connections, Frequent Flyer Programs as well as codeshare and interline services with various alliance partner airlines.

This was quickly followed by an engaging question and answer session with participants seeking clarifications on various issues relating to visas, ticketing, transit and several immigration challenges faced by passengers going for tourism, students, medical or business purposes. The Station Manager, Mr. Mohammed Afifi carefully explained the various scenarios to participants and stressed that it is of utmost importance for travelers going to Egypt or transiting for 12 hours or more to have a Yellow Fever Card.

Introducing the hospitality and destination marketing session, Mr. Muharram Abdel Rahman noted that, “About one year ago in 2023, EgyptAir took a strategic decision to engage the services of a General Sales Agent (GSA) in order to deepen its market access in the Nigerian market and to drive its sales and marketing approach.

“Due to my experience and knowledge of the Nigerian market having served first as the Abuja Office Manager about eight years ago and then as General Manager for Lagos, I was invited once again to work here as the GSA Manager. We look forward to working more closely with you as we join hands in offering our highly esteemed customers excellent travel choices with seamless services,” he remarked.

Elite Tours’ Tour Manager, Mr. Hisham Attia took participants through various Video Sessions on the many hotel options and captivating tourism destinations around Egypt waiting to welcome visitors. These include the exotic Dream Resort in Sharm El Shiek, the Pyramids of Giza, the beautiful cities of Aswan and Hurgada as well as Boat Cruises and Quad biking experiences.

The high point of the day’s activities was the unveiling and presentation of Awards and Certificates of Recognitions respectively to the top ten and top twenty Travel Agents for the 2023/2024 financial year. Wakanow emerged as the overall most outstanding Travel Agent of the year closely followed by Satguru and Finchglow Travels in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Among the top twenty Agents, Aeroland Travels took the 11th spot with Good News and Travel Beta taking the 12th and 13th positions.

Commenting on the recognitions, Mr. Amr Basha said, “I would like to thank all our travel agents for partnering with us over the years and for your exceptional efforts and performance in boosting our sales and helping to improve our services with your various comments and suggestions. It is in realization of how important you are to our success as an airline that we are recognizing the efforts and brilliant performances of our top agents for the 2023/2024 financial year.”
