LAAC Conference: A Platform Beneficial To The Aviation Ministry, Says Keyamo
The Minister Of Aviation & Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) says the Annual Conference of the League of Airport & Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) is “actually a platform for the Ministry of Aviation to benefit from.”
Speaking yesterday as Special Guest of Honour at the 28th edition of the Conference held at Providence Hotel Ikeja, Lagos, under the theme, Aviation Survivability Amidst A Challenging Macro-Economic Environment,” Keyamo said the conference had brought together, key stakeholders from across the industry, describing the event as a stakeholders’ conference.
The Minister noted that the industry had so many issues that could hardly be exhausted at one conference but that the current administration was doing its best to address the issues. He called for a support of the five-point agenda of the current administration, adding that if there was an outstanding item in the agenda, he would extend it to a six-point agenda.
He said under his watch, he would ensure a strict compliance with safety standards, improve both aeronautical and non-aeronautical infrastructure, support local operators and make sure they enhance capacities by training and retraining professionals.
“We need flag carriers to make us proud in the absence of a national carrier,” he said.
Keyamo further tasked the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to work out modalities for code-sharing and partnerships among local airlines so as to improve their performance and serve the air travellers better.
