Delta Unveils Major Upgrade To Delta One, Redefining Premium Long-Haul Travel
Delta has unveiled the next era of Delta One, an investment that elevates dining, hospitality and rest. Informed by two decades of customer insights and backed by the airline’s largest investment to-date, building upon more than $1 billion invested in fleet — the refined Delta One was meticulously designed, spanning thousands of touch-points and delivering an unmatched journey.
The overhaul is available first on transoceanic Delta One routes departing Los Angeles International Airport, where Delta offers more premium seats and resides as the city’s number one airline, this fall and will expand across the full global network in early 2027.
“Delta’s fully re-imagined experience is rooted in solving real customer needs and desires, with intentionality behind every detail,” said Ranjan Goswami, Delta’s Chief Marketing and Product Officer. “Every investment we make is deliberate and designed to deliver the industry’s most premium end-to-end travel experience. This elevated dining and hospitality experience reflects our relentless focus on raising the bar while giving customers greater control throughout their journey.”
A central feature of the redesign is an expanded culinary programme featuring upgraded ingredients, refreshed menus and new beverage selections. The menu includes a Delta One Wagyu beef burger, roasted sea bass, braised lamb, beef short rib and seasonally rotating risotto. Customers will also continue to have access to familiar favourites, including macaroni and cheddar cheese, alongside new mid-flight meal options.
Delta has worked with chef Simon Hulstone and Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson to refine its food and beverage offerings, with additional input from chefs Norio Ueno and Jereme Leung to support regional authenticity.
The airline is also introducing redesigned tableware featuring its iconic widget logo, with each piece developed to improve presentation, functionality and the onboard dining experience. The beverage programme includes a new wine selection curated with Andrea Robinson and SkyMiles members, featuring Napa Valley favourites and international labels. Champagne Taittinger will feature more prominently, including on domestic Delta One services.
Additional offerings include Blanton’s single-barrel bourbon, available from December 1, 2026, and DASSAI 45 sake on flights to and from Tokyo-Haneda from November 3, 2026.
A new cocktail and mocktail programme featuring variations of the Hugo Spritz and Paloma is scheduled to launch on international routes in March 2027 and domestic routes in April 2027.
Beyond food and beverages, Delta is expanding options that allow customers to tailor the experience to their individual preferences. Eligible Delta One customers can pre-select their entrée up to 18 hours before departure, six hours closer to flight time than previously available. The airline describes this as the closest pre-order window offered by a U.S. carrier.
Expanded meal selections include lighter options and gluten-free meals. On long-haul flights, customers who prefer to maximize their sleep can opt to skip the morning meal service and have coffee and a croissant before landing.
A new “sip and settle” moment, featuring a hot towel, warm nuts and a preferred beverage, is also designed to make the transition into the dining experience more relaxed. Other refinements include tableside pepper service and sauces presented separately to give customers greater flexibility.
“Luxury is about having the experience designed around you — today’s premium traveler values choice as much as quality,” said Kristen Manion Taylor, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Brand Experience.
Delta is introducing its Winter Elsewhere Missoni amenity kit collection from November 3, 2026. The kits feature a nature-inspired design, a wrist strap intended for use beyond the flight and personal-care products, including Grown Alchemist skincare and a Marvis dental kit.
The airline is also adding a second Missoni cuddle pillow on domestic and international Delta One routes, complementing existing sleep amenities such as mattress pads, memory foam pillows, slippers and eye masks.
Delta x Bombas comfort socks are returning on select domestic and international flights departing the United States, while next-generation seatback screens and enhanced digital features are intended to make onboard entertainment easier to navigate and personalize.
Delta said the redesign was developed with significant input from its frontline teams. More than 200 flight attendants and other employees contributed feedback over more than 14 months, through four testing phases and 36 dedicated trial flights.
Their recommendations informed changes to service procedures, tea presentation, sauce service and the development of more than 60 new pieces of tableware.
“Hospitality has always been Delta’s greatest differentiator, and it starts with our people,” said Manion Taylor, adding that employee expertise helped ensure the redesigned experience reflects both customer expectations and the practical realities of onboard service.
The Delta One redesign forms part of the airline’s broader effort to enhance premium travel across the customer journey, including airport lounges, connectivity, digital services, onboard entertainment and ground transportation.
Delta said nearly 1,300 aircraft were equipped with Delta Sync Wi-Fi at the time of the announcement, representing more than 95 per cent of its fleet. The airline is also expanding its partnership involving Porsche hybrid vehicles from 40 to 70 vehicles across 15 key airports and hubs by 2028. Porsche transfers are available to eligible Delta One customers booking VIP Select.
For travellers on long-haul international routes, the latest changes highlight the increasing emphasis airlines are placing on the complete travel experience, extending beyond the seat itself to include dining, sleep, personalisation and service consistency.
With the initial rollout beginning on selected transoceanic routes from Los Angeles and a wider global expansion planned for early 2027, Delta’s latest investment signals its continued focus on strengthening its position in the premium travel market.
