AfDB Targets $7 Billion Support For Africa’s Aviation Industry

African Development Bank (AfDB) says it has an objective of mobilizing $7 billion to support Africa’s aviation industry within the next five years.

The Director of Infrastructure at AfDB, Mr. Mike Salawou stated this while presenting a paper titled “The Integrated Aviation Transformation Programme For Africa” at the Nigerian Aircraft Acquisition and Investment Summit (NAAIS) held in Lagos.

He said 50% of the $7 billion would be used to support infrastructure development in the sector, adding that AfDB is committed to supporting efforts to strengthen lessor capacity for African airlines.

He said the AfDB had mobilized $12 billion for Ethiopia’s airport project.
