AFCAC Says SAATM Has Generated 124 New Routes In Three Years
The Secretary General of African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), Ms. Adefunke Adeyemi says following the signing and implementation of the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), 124 new routes have been opened in Africa in the last three years.
Speaking at the Nigeria Aircraft Acquisition and Investment Summit (NAAIS) held in Lagos Nigeria, Adeyemi said 22 of the 124 new routes are being operated on fifth freedom rights, adding that the fifth freedom rights that the airlines enjoy will help them build more traffic.
Adeyemi added that 113 million passengers have been carried on the 124 new routes within the three year period.
