Nwosu-Igbo, FAAN GM, Public Affairs Retires From Service
The General Manager, Public Affiars at Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Ijeoma Blessing Nwosu-Igbo today retired from service in a Pen-Down ceremony held at FAAN Headquarters, Lagos.
An accomplished Public Affairs professional and a seasoned administrator whose career in the aviation sector has been marked by dedication, professionalism and impactful service, Nwosu-Igbo joined FAAN in August 2002 as a Senior Public Affairs Officer on Grade Level 10. Through years of commitment, hard work and exemplary leadership, she rose steadily through the ranks to become the General Manager, Public Affairs.
Throughout her distinguished career spanning over two decades, Mrs. Nwosu-Igbo played a pivotal role in strengthening the Authority’s communication strategy, enhancing public engagement and promoting the image of FAAN within Nigeria and beyond. Her work contributed significantly to shaping the narrative of the Nigerian aviation industry through effective media relations, strategic communication and stakeholder engagement.
As General Manager, Public Affairs, she provided leadership in managing the Authority’s corporate image, coordinating media activities, disseminating critical information to the public and ensuring transparency in FAAN’s operations. Her tenure was marked by professionalism, innovation and a deep commitment to excellence.
Known for her calm disposition, mentorship and collaborative leadership style, Mrs. Nwosu-Igbo has inspired many young professionals within the Public Affairs cadre and across the Authority.
FAAN today at her Pen Down ceremony, celebrated a woman whose dedication, integrity and passion for service have left an indelible mark on the organization.
In his remarks, the Director, Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire described her as an enigma of a woman who he has worked with for a short period of time, having met her for the first time in September 2023. He wished her a pleasurable retirement.
The General Manager, Consumer Protection, Barrister Monica Alphonsus congratulated her and expressed gratitude that Nwosu-Igbo had given her best to the system and was leaving as a General Manager, noting that some people that started with her were no more. She described her as an open-minded person who sustains contact with former bosses and colleagues and even reaches out to them to help meet their needs.
In her remarks, former Director of Administration, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mrs. Elemanya Ebila, who also spent years serving in FAAN, applauded Nwosu-Igbo’s singing skills, confirming the notion of various colleagues that they would miss her voice on the corridor
The representative of Director of Human Resource & Administration at the occasion, Mrs. Gladys Omotosho, who read her Nwosu-Igbo’s profile thanked her on behalf of the organization for her commitment during her years of service. Omotosho advised young and upcoming personnel of FAAN to emulate the likes of Nwosu-Igbo and work hard so that they would make significant impact during their years of service.
The General Manager, Revenue, Mrs. Caroline Uwabor emphasized the need for workers to do something positive while occupying a position or office as the impact would later speak.
The Deputy General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Halima Balal in her remarks, noted that every human being by nature would be loved by some and hated by some, noting that Nwosu-Igbo was an amazing personality that could be misunderstood based on her dynamic nature but that she was a hard working professional and good hearted person.
Chairman of League of Airport & Aviation Correspondents (LAAC), Mr. Idris Suleiman highlighted how Nwosu-Igbo ensured a good working relationship between the media and FAAN management during her tenure. A well-wish gift was eventually presented by members of LAAC to Mrs. Nwosu-Igbo and she was commended for meritorious service.
The celebrant, who was overwhelmed by the shower of words of felicitation from colleagues and LAAC at the occasion, was present with some of her children. She thanked all attendees for coming, thanked members of LAAC for their gift and expressed gratitude to the Public Affairs Department for organizing the Pen-Down Ceremony.
FAAN’s Director of Cargo Developments & Services (DCDS), Mr Olalekan Thomas was also present at the occasion.
